Is it just me, or does velvet remind anybody else of the holidays? The plush texture is so warm and fuzzy almost as if it is meant to be worn for a Christmas or a New Years Eve event only. That typically is the case, because it seems to be the most popular during the winter, and often times seen in darker colors like black and navy blue. Although, this year, velvet seemed to trending during the summer, seen in colors like mustard yellow to pink, and as we transition into the colder seasons, it looks as if it has no signs of stopping any time soon. Velvet boots are coming in about every single color you can think of just in time for fall.
For my look today, I went with velvet overlay top in a forest green color. I did happen to buy this during winter last year, and managed to add it to my look today. I have really been attracted to darker shades of green, and the fact that this was velvet made it that much better. What I love the most about it is that it is dark enough to almost look black, but then when the light hits it, you can see the green. I used black as my go-to for the rest of my pieces, and made sure I wore things that would keep me cool, like my cut-off shorts and bandeau top, since it is still hitting the high 90s here. What do you think of my velvet look?
